It occurs to me that, despite how indisputably strange Euripides' Helen is, it does express a fundamental truth about the myth of the Trojan War - when the Greeks sailed to Troy, they were going not for a woman, but for a symbol, an idea of a woman. While bored during Earth Science today, I found myself thinking about two interesting, dysfunctonal mythological/legendary families: the Orkneys and the Trojan royal family (I really need a better name for them, don't I?).
